Our Story

FROM LOUISIANA TO THE OLD CITY

La Casita has its roots in Louisiana, USA. All recipes and cooking were taught to our chef by the American Richard Rochester, who sadly passed away in 2019. His recipes live with us until today — refined and extended by us, plate by plate.

Since opening in September 2022 on Ratvithi Road, La Casita has become Chiang Mai's go-to spot for Mexican-American food — burritos, tacos and Southern comfort classics like gumbo and jambalaya, all homemade.

Authentic? We'd rather say honest: Tex-Mex made from scratch with the best ingredients we can get in Thailand — creative, generous and full of love. If only 100% Mexico-grade authenticity will do, you'll need a plane ticket. If you want great food, grab a chair.

Spot the bricks! We're big Lego fans — keep an eye out for brick-built skulls, La Catrina and Western icons around the restaurant. New builds land all the time.

Honest answer: we don't chase »authenticity« — we cook Mexican-American comfort food, Tex-Mex style with Louisiana roots. Many original Mexican ingredients simply aren't available in Thailand, so we make everything ourselves with what we can get here — with plenty of creativity and love. Mexican guests have told us it beats their grandma's cooking; the next day someone disagrees. Come hungry and judge for yourself.

Caught that? We're big Lego fans — brick-built skulls, La Catrina and Western icons are on display all over the restaurant, and new builds appear all the time.
